The Ontario Municipal Board hearing into an application by several Midhurst developers for extra population allocations starts Monday July 18 2016 at 10:30 am in the council chambers of the Simcoe County administration building (1110 Highway 26). Five days have been set aside to decide whether the OMB has jurisdiction.

Six developers applied for a total of 6,120 additional people out of the 20,000 population gifted to Simcoe County by then municipal affairs minister Bob Chiarelli in January 2012. If not allocated by January 2017 the bonus expires.

Springwater Township declared in January that it opposes the allocations and Simcoe County Council voted in May against the developers’ applications, with the exception of the Walton Group’s request for 15 people for a five-lot development on the Old Second.
