The Niagara Escarpment Commission has thrown up a roadblock to a plan to upgrade the road network around County Road 91.
At the NEC’s Nov. 19 meeting, commissioners went against the advice of their planner and said no to Clearview Township’s application to upgrade the 26-27 Sideroad.
The 26-27 Sideroad is currently considered a ‘summer’ road, and upgrading it to a road that can be used year-round is part of the agreement that allowed Walker Aggregates to expand its quarry operations on County Road 91 west of Duntroon.
hat agreement would also see County Road 91 handed over to Walker and closed to through traffic west of the 10th Line, and the 10th Line and the 26-27 Sideroad upgraded to handle additional traffic. The agreement also required Walker to pay for upgrades to County Road 91 leading into Duntroon.
