Two existing Simcoe County schools, and one planned, are receiving capital funding from Ontario’s Education Ministry.

The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) will receive money to build a new public elementary school in east Alliston, including a two-room childcare facility.

The board will also get funding for an addition at Elmvale District High School, as well as a two-room childcare addition at Orchard Park Public School in Orillia.

These projects were capital priority business cases submitted by the SCDSB to the ministry in July 2015 as part of its capital plan.

The new public school in Alliston will be located on John W. Taylor Avenue and will help address enrolment pressures being experienced in the area as a result of population growth.

The addition to Elmvale District High School will help address enrolment pressures and provide the community with facility upgrades which will result in an increase in programming choices.

Springwater Thrilled with Elmvale District High School Funding Announcement

News release from Springwater Township

The Township of Springwater is thrilled with the Ministry of Education’s announcement of capital funding for an addition to be built at Elmvale District High School.

Elmvale District High School was listed as the number one priority on the Simcoe County District School Boards’ Capital Plan List in 2015 and has been an area of significant focus for the Township and the community as a whole.

“Elmvale District High School is the heart of the community, and the Township of Springwater has been committed to ensuring that our residents have equal access to high quality education,” says Mayor Bill French. “This funding announcement has confirmed that students in Springwater can continue to learn and grow in their own community.”

The funding from the Ministry of Education will be used to build an addition on the existing school, which will address increased enrolment and allow for facility upgrades to accommodate improved programming.
