Monday June 15: Strawberry Island at Ramara council

Come to the Ramara Township Council meeting at the Ramara Centre (Library), 5482 Hwy 12, Atherley on Monday June 15 at 7 pm.

Strawberry Island in Lake Simcoe is threatened by a development proposal for 120 condo units and up to 500 people which could destroy the forest, wetlands, wildlife, decrease species diversity and damage critical spawning shoals through extensive docks. Phosphorus discharge from the development could add to the algal blooms that we already see in the lake.

Transporting goods and 500 people to & from the island, inadequate mainland parking and gravel road access, traffic congestion through residential streets could be very disruptive and unsafe for local residents.
