Human Beings are the Voice for all Life Forms

Letter to the Alliston Herald from Danny Beaton, Tiny Township

BEETON – A little forest on a hill is threatened by a developer who owns lots of property in Simcoe County. I was there to witness many intelligent people present their case to stop the cutting of endangered trees in the Beeton forest and to hear the facts about flooding, climate change, threat to species who reside in Beeton forest. They are only turtles, bees, birds, flowers, rabbit, fox etc… In the native culture, the Human Beings are the voice for all life forms, Creation and Natural World and Mother Earth.

Being in the Simcoe County meeting brought back memories of protecting the water and farmland at Site 41 and all the farmers, citizens, natives, environmentalists together to fight for Mother Earth. Listening to students in council speak for Mother Earth was inspiring, and the fathers and moms who gave up their time to come into the picture for the Beeton forest was a blessing.

There is something terribly wrong when a community comes together for justice and the injustice is put on hold, not stopped.

The little forests are connected to the big forests and the little injustice is connected to the big injustices. There is a ripple effect when people and communities come together for justice or life or Creation. We can close our eyes we can close our minds we can close our ears but the truth is the truth. The law will prevail natural law will prevail.

In the native culture our elders say our plant life can hear us and feel our love. My heart was filled with joy hearing the community of New Tecumseth speak for the trees. Thank you all for standing together.
