Strawberry Island

from Pamela Fulford

Trans America Group, a real estate company from Alberta that wants to build 120 condominium units on small Strawberry Island in Lake Simcoe, will be giving a deputation to Ramara Council on an updated version of its proposal.

When: Monday April 27 at 7:00 p.m.

Where:  Ramara Centre at 5482 Highway 12, Atherley, Ontario. (just outside of Orillia) NB -CHANGE OF VENUE due to the large number of people expected to be in attendance
This island is important for its woods, wetlands and untouched shoreline, all of which are disappearing rapidly in the Lake Simcoe watershed. Trans America wants Ramara Council to change its Official Plan and Zoning Bylaw, or the proposal cannot go ahead.
Still to come on the Strawberry Island issue:
– On May 11, same time, same place, Pamela Fulford, who started an online petition opposing the proposal will be giving a deputation to Council on Strawberry Island.
– On June 15, this is the big one! The Township of Ramara will hold a Public Meeting at 7:00 p.m., in the Council Chambers. This is your chance to speak your mind about this development!
