A free day of education, discussion and action planning to grow the Orillia Food Council and progress local food security. Hear inspiring keynotes from experts in the field.

Thursday February 19, 2015

Time: 8:30 am – 4:00 pm (registration opens 8:00 am)

Locally sourced lunch: 12:00 pm

Location: Lakehead University Orillia Campus

Opening Remarks: Orillia Mayor, Steve Clarke

Simcoe County Warden, Gerry Marshall

Hear and be inspired by:

-Dr. Lauren Baker – Teacher, author, researcher and coordinator of the Toronto Food Policy Council.

-Michael Jones – Local resident, motivational speaker, author, celebrated pianist and musician.

There will be a locally sourced lunch followed by an afternoon of participatory workshops delving deeper into the themes of community food systems, food economy, urban agriculture and community gardening, school food education, working with municipal government and the future of the Orillia Food Council.
