NEWS FLASH – Today (February 27 2015) the NVCA board unanimously voted in favour of a resolution moved by Innisfil Councillor Rob Nicol and seconded by Oro-Medonte Councillor Barb Coutanche to reaffirm its request to the federal government to have the Nottawasaga River and its primary tributaries regulated under the Navigation Protection Act.

On Friday February 27,  Kate Harries will be making a deputation on behalf of AWARE Simcoe to the  newly elected board of the Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority. Many of you have signed the petition calling on the federal government to include the Nottawasaga River as a scheduled river in the Navigation Protection Act. The government advised us last summer that no additions to the Act would be considered until April 2015. We will outline the situation so far and suggest that the NVCA move ahead with the request. The meeting starts at 9:00 a.m. and is held at the John L. Jose Learning Centre in the Tiffin Conservation Area, 8195 8th Line, Utopia. Link to Kate’s blog.
NEWS FLASH: Simcoe County councillors voted today (Thursday Feb. 26) in favour of a motion from Springwater Mayor Bill French, seconded by Clearview Deputy Mayor Barry Burton, to schedule a public information session, with time for a question and answer session, on the county’s Official Plan.
