\Marshall elected Simcoe County warden

County Council today elected Gerry Marshall, Mayor of the Town of Penetanguishene, to serve as Simcoe County Warden for 2015 and 2016.

“I am honoured to be elected as Simcoe County Warden for 2015 and 2016,” said Warden Marshall. “I look forward to working with Council and County staff to continue building on our progress by offering fiscally responsible, innovative and transparent strategies. I thank my colleagues for demonstrating their confidence in my leadership, and I look forward to serving the great people of Simcoe County.”

Marshall has served on County Council since 2010. Marshall has held the following positions since joining County Council: Chair of Audit Committee, 2013 and 2014; Vice-Chair of Corporate Services, 2013-2014; Vice-Chair of the Economic Development Review Sub-committee, 2014; Vice-Chair of Audit Committee, 2012; Member of Audit Committee, 2011; Member of Corporate Services Committee 2011-2012; County Appointee to Children’s Aid Society Board, 2010-2014; Alternate on Agricultural Liaison Committee, 2013-2014.

County Council also elected Terry Dowdall, Mayor of Essa Township, as the Simcoe County Deputy Warden for 2015 and 2016.

Dowdall has served on County Council since 2003. Dowdall has held the following positions since joining County Council: Member of Corporate Services Committee, 2004-2013; Member of Governance Committee, 2007; Member of Economic Development Review Funding Task Force, 2013.

Additionally, the County’s Business Section Chairs and Vice Chairs for 2015 and 2016 were elected on Tuesday:

Councillor Gordon McKay, Business Section Chair of Performance Management; Councillor Judith Cox, Business Section Chair of Human Services; and Councillor Doug Little, Business Section Chair of Corporate Services.

Councillor Don Allen, Business Section Vice Chair of Performance Management; Anita Dubeau, Business Section Vice Chair of Human Services; and Councillor Ralph Hough Business Section Vice Chair of Corporate Services.
