There will be a new Mayor in Adjala Tosorontio after the October 27th municipal elections. And it will be either current deputy mayor Mary Small Brett or former councillor, Leo Losereit. Incumbent mayor Tom Walsh is not seeking reelection.

At the nomination deadline Friday afternoon, no further candidates, who hadn’t already filed prior to it, signed up, which for Ward 5 incumbent Scott Anderson, means no campaign required as he was acclaimed to office in the north end of the township, his sophmore term.

The race for Deputy Mayor pits a former holder of that seat, Doug Little, currently Ward 3 councillor, against Ken Pratt, who was a former Alliston councillor at amalgamation in 1990, and Mark Loranger.

Ward 1 incumbent Floyd Pinto is facing Steve Wynnyk.

Ward 2 incumbent Ambrose Kennan is being challenged by Shirley Brennan. Michael Demianiuk withdrew as a candidate on Sept. 11th.

Ward 3 will have a new member elected from amongst Chantale Gagnon, George DeGroot, and Bob Meadows.

Ward 4 features Charles Cooper and Dave Rose.

Ward 5 Scott Anderson.
