The Liberal Government announced it was implementing a new Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund. This is definitely a much needed action for the small communities that will benefit from it. Investing in infrastructure not only creates jobs it boosts the economy.

But Jeff Leal, Member of Provincial Parliament, Peterborough said, “We listened to our municipal partners, who know what’s best for their communities…” Obviously, the man is an ostrich with his head stuck somewhere the sun doesn’t shine. The reality of Ontario is that local citizens seldom, if ever have any say in what goes on. And as long as the OMB exists in its current form, as long as there are SLAPP suites, and as long as developers and big business can influence council members through campaign financing, the only needs that will be met is that of developers, big business and councilors egos.

Come on Premier Wynne, we expect better from you. Fix these things so that local people can truly have a say in what goes on in their communities.
