Our election is over and we have a clear majority government. Many of us, thinking we have done our duty will go back to ignoring politics until next election when we will be surprised that what we wanted didn’t happen. Now is when we start making our vote count.

Whether you voted for our MPP or not, whether or not you voted for the majority party, get involved.. It really doesn’t take a lot. If you didn’t like the outcome and want the next election to go differently, join the local riding association now. You can have a say in what the party does and thinks and have a voice in selecting their next candidate.

Have a favourite issue? My three top issues are transparency, farmland, and water. Join an advocacy group and help get the message out to other people and to our government about what you think needs to happen.

Watch the news and keep track of what those folks are doing, don’t be afraid to send an email or a letter and let them know what you think. Better yet when you see our MPP or premier in public, introduce yourself and tell them your concerns.

Remember when a politician hears nothing they assume the silence is assent. Also the thing they want most is re-election. Let’s make them understand they work for us. Let’s make the last election a turning point, and take back our government.
