Rescue Lake Simcoe Coalition is hosting an interactive and inspiring event focused on protecting Oro-Medonte’s forests and wetlands through an Official Plan review.

Come and learn what is and what should be protected!

Oro-Medonte’s Official Plan is currently being reviewed. This is our chance to

better protect the forests and wetlands that filter the water running into Lake Simcoe by making sure that the LSPP is incorporated into the Township Official Plan.

New policies of the Lake Simcoe Protection Plan will better protect forests and wetlands in the Lake Simcoe watershed of Oro-Medonte, but we need the public to help us show Council that we want the best protection possible!

Scientists suggest that 40% of the Lake Simcoe watershed be permanently in “high quality natural cover”. But now only about 35% of the watershed is in natural cover (high quality or not) and very little of that is truly protected.

So please come out and help us do a community mapping session and pinpoint:

– Are there special places you want protected?

– Do you know of areas where endangered or threatened species live?

– What are your favourite bike, walk, or ride routes?
