PENETANGUISHENE – A petition calling for the Penetanguishene and Midland secondary schools to stay open has angered school board trustees and is being called a “futile exercise in social media that bombed.”

Penetanguishene Mayor Gerry Marshall created the petition April 18 on the website change.org in an effort to get a sense of who in the community is involved in the issue and what they have to say about the schools possibly closing.

One Response to “Penetanguishene mayor’s petition angers trustee”

I can’t believe the comments made by Trustee Michele Locke in the Midland Mirror!
She said that “some trustees were disturbed by hundreds of incoming email alerts on their phones while in church.” Why do they even have their phones on in church??
She also said “Everyone’s deleting them all because there’s no dialogue,” adding there is no way to reply to the emails. “Anyone can say their opinion, but I don’t have to accept it. I don’t have to read it.”
This is complete arrogance on her part. She doesn’t have to reply to the emails..it’s a petition! But it’s her job to read the comments from the people she is representing on the school board and who elected her!
And she called the petition “petty political stuff” that was “a futile exercise in social media that bombed.” I think her comments and attitude are petty political stuff!!
