It turns out the average Bradford West Gwillimbury homeowner will see a property tax increase of 0.37 per cent in 2014, not the nearly 2 per cent town officials previously anticipated.
This translates to a taxation increase of $14.73 for a home valued at $351,200.
The revised taxation increase comes after the municipality received average house assessment values and after Simcoe County approved its 2014 budget.
“This is the best news we’ve had in a long time,” said Councillor Gary Lamb at a meeting Tuesday.
Homeowners with an assessment of $351,200 will pay $4,007 in property taxes in 2014.
The municipality will collect $1,394 of that, while the county will take $1,067.
The total property tax also includes levies for library, police, education and special capital projects.
