Very short council meeting this week as they get back into the swing of things after a months absence.

BUSES: Buses are starting May 1st on a 9:00 to 5:00 schedule. Councillor Simpson question again why the buses didn’t run on a longer day to catch rush hour commuters and high school students. This has come up a number of times. The idea was to conserve expenditures and the system is primarily to serve the senior population. EDITORIAL COMMENT: Members of council don’t seem to understand budgeting even when they vote and approve budgets and expenditures, not just on busing, but on larger longer term expenditures as well.

NEW STAFF POSITION: The town has added another staff position. Caleigh Clubine has been added as Communications Officer.

COUNCILLOR CARL HORDYK: The councillor asked to be appointed to the Heritage committee. He said he wanted to be part of the effort to have Bond Head made a Heritage District.

HERITAGE DISTRICT: The Heritage committee requested council hold a meeting with Bond Head residents to discuss the possibility of a Heritage District in Bond Head. The council made very clear while they would attend such a meeting they didn’t want to be part of the meeting and referred to the planning department for implementation.

FARMER’S MARKET: A Notice of Motion was made regarding fees for the Farmer’s Market. The town has been giving the Market $3,000 and then charging $1,000 for the use of the library parking lot. A motion will be brought forward at the next meeting to correct this and determine Town funding.
