Council approves 2014 County of Simcoe budget

Simcoe County Council today approved a $403-million budget for 2014, which focuses on maintaining public infrastructure expenditures and expanding health and social programs, while continuing the County along a path of long-term fiscal stability.
“Meeting the varied needs of residents while remaining fiscally responsible is always County Council’s number one priority,” said Warden Cal Patterson. “The 2014 budget not only ensures the continued investment in social and community services, health services, and capital infrastructure improvements, but goes a long way toward fostering our vital municipal and community partnerships to ensure these needs are met.”
Residents will see an overall 2-per-cent increase on the County portion of their municipal property taxes in 2014, an impact of approximately $6.11 per $100,000 of property assessment.
