Between a rock and a hard place

SHELBURNE – Plans for North America’s second-biggest rock quarry on potato farms north of Toronto have coated Queen’s Park in a dust cloud of public outrage.
Farmers, residents, environmentalists, opposition MPs and MPPs, plus First Nations groups, are kicking dirt on the project planned for 937 hectares near the Niagara Escarpment north of Shelburne.
