Beth Brass Elson from Beausoleil Island First Nation, the First Nations representative on the AWARE Simcoe board, has embarked on the Mother Earth Water Walk. It’s a journey to call attention to the sacred gift of water, the source of all life. She crossed the border at the Sault this morning.
The 2011 Water Walk unites all the waters of our Mother Earth.
Water from the Pacific Ocean, the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic and Hudson Bay has been gathered and is being carried in copper pails to the central meeting point.
The first walkers set off April 10, from Aberdeen, Washington State. The Southern walkers lef Gulfport, Mississipi on April 20. Walkers from the East left Machais, Maine, on May 7. And Churchill, Manitoba was the starting point for the Norther walk on May  21.
This map shows the directions from which the water walkers are converging,to meet in Bad River, Wisconsin on June 12.
We will keep you posted on Beth’s progress.
