Why local chefs are pissed at quarry proposal
BY: KARON LIU The Grid June 29 2011
A proposal to build the country’s largest aggregate quarry about 100 km northwest of Toronto, in Dufferin County, has sent farmers, politicians and chefs into a frenzy.
A crowd of a hundred or so farmers, environmentalists, politicians and chefs (including The Gilead’s Jamie Kennedy, Cava’s Chris McDonald and Eigensinn Farm’s Michael Stadtländer) gathered at Marben Restaurant Tuesday to essentially tell influential big-city folk how this proposed quarry will affect Torontonians.
