Council should have had public discussion, input on green space acquisition
By DAN PELTON Orangeville Citizen May 26 2011
A Mono resident appeared at the town council meeting Tuesday to express concerns over the recent acquisition of a 60- acre (24.5-hectare) parcel of land on Hockley Road, adjacent to both the Island Lake Conservation Area and the Dufferin County Forest.
Dave Craughwell told council he was not necessarily against council’s objective in buying the land from the estate of former Dufferin County clerk Harry Baker. His concerns were that there was not enough public input into what he saw as a major financial transaction.
