ORO-MEDONTE TWP. — The Township of Oro-Medonte council will be packing more decisions into fewer meetings beginning this week.
Effective today, the new council will hold three meetings per month, consisting of one day meeting and two evening meetings, on Wednesdays.

“There is a belief on council that we can do our business within three meetings a month,” Mayor Harry Hughes said.
The old schedule consisted of four weekly meetings on Wednesdays — two in the morning and two in the evening. Some were regular council meetings and others were committee of the whole meetings, where no action could be taken on items until the next official council meeting.
Now, the first Wednesday of every month will be a day meeting starting at 10 a. m, and the second and fourth Wednesdays will be evening meetings starting at 7 p.m. All three will be council meetings and not committee of the whole meetings.
“Action can be taken (at all meetings) instead of having to wait a week,” Hughes said.
