ORO-MEDONTE TWP. — The former Edgar Occupational Centre property in Oro-Medonte could be on its way back to life.
Miya Consulting of Toronto will make a decision this week as to whether or not it will be purchasing the remaining 84-acres of property from the Ontario Reality Corp. (ORC), says company president Kevin Miyauchi.
“The deal is conditional right now,” Miyauchi said on Wednesday. “We are in the final stages of due diligence and on a tight timeline of Friday.”
Miya Consulting presented a preliminary concept plan to council on Wednesday outlining development plans for a low-density residential neighbourhood.
“We certainly see the value of this happening and we certainly will be doing our very best to accommodate it,” said Mayor Harry Hughes.
The former Edgar Occupational Centre property, at the corner of Bass Lake Sideroad and County Road 57, was closed in 1999 in the government’s effort to shift away from institut i o na l i z e d care in favour of community dwellings
