News release from Gary Cerantola – October 23 2010
Cerantola will work towards Wasaga Beach residents and taxpayers being given the chance to table their issues and most importantly track progress and escalate their concerns if they feel they have not been heard.
Wasaga Beach Elections – Resident Taxpayer Issues – Master Plan Solution
Many Wasaga Beach residents have several issues they would like resolved.
The question that has to be asked is how do we systematically assess each issue, rank it and deal with in an effective and efficient manner consistent with the greater good of Wasaga Beach residents and within the parameters of Critical Success Factors of environmental, social and economic importance.
As a new councillor I would dedicate my efforts to bring in a modern forum that is accountable and transparent to Wasaga Beach residents that offers them the opportunity to not only contribute to the 2020 vision for Wasaga Beach but allow them to table issues and most importantly give them the means to track progress and escalate their concerns if they feel they have not been heard.
The next step in the process is to build a 10 year strategic plan, a Master Plan, that will be the umbrella and guiding direction for all town plans and operating and capital budgets as we go forward to make sure we create the BIG Long Term view and we demonstrate to developers and the different levels of government where they fit in to help us (not lead us). I have twenty plus years of experience in the development of strategic plans and the management of strategic planning processes for organizations up to $5.0 Billion dollars in assets. I would bring a capability to council that could help Wasaga Beach become a “Leading Community in the Georgian Triangle”. This Master Plan will give us credibility at the County level and Queen’s Park to secure the help we need to move towards our 2020 vision. I have been involved in proposal development in my career from small to $40 million to $55 Million dollar proposals and know what it takes to work with provincial governments, partners and key stakeholders to make things happen.
It takes good governance, accountability, transparency and a lot of work and tenacity to set up such a strategic framework, a master plan, which will help alleviate all the short term decisions, the exception decisions based on special circumstances, and the urgent decisions that move ahead without due diligence and result in the stranding of your tax dollar investments because someone did not think through the ramifications of a particular project or program and looks to outside parties and acts of God to blame for the conditions for failure.
It is our time to lead. It’s your time to select people that will provide you results in transforming Wasaga Beach into a leading community with the wherewithal to make things happen. We need to create a success story to promote to the world and to attract the right kind of developers, because we will have created a Master Plan that has been vetted, stress tested and deemed viable by our partners and our governments.
Working a Master Plan with our partners we would have very little problem attracting key professionals such as doctors to our community, developing integrated housing for seniors, families and single homeowners with proper access, services and supporting infrastructure, developing our beachfronts, attracting social and cultural venues and creating the quality of life our residents deserve.
