CARP will be hosting its inaugural Barrie mayoral debate Tuesday evening to focus attention on what’s needed to make Barrie the model age-friendly city and has invited more than 200 of Barrie’s most politically engaged voters to hear what they have to say in a formal debate.
“Residents 45+ dominate the ballot box so anyone who wants to be their Mayor needs to pay attention to their issues. In addition, to the usual issues of taxes, residents of Barrie and surrounding areas will want to know what the new mayor will do to ensure that Barrie services including affordable housing will enhance the quality of life for people as they age and ensure that they can remain engaged in every aspect of life,” said CARP chairperson Gwen Kavanagh.
Seven of the eight candidates have confirmed their attendance, including Harry Ahmed, Rob Hamilton, Jeff Lehman, Mike Ramsay, Joe Tascona, Carl Hauck, and Mayor Dave Aspden.
The meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. at Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Homes at 30 Worsley St.
Seating will be limited 200.
