Any one wishing to run for council has less than 24 hours to file nomination papers. Nominations, which must be filed in person, close in every municipality at 2 p.m. Friday, September 10. Check the website of your municipality for further details. Being a member of municipal council is demanding and the remuneration is (or should be) modest – but the rewards can be great, This is a chance to take a stand, to be part of shaping the future for your family and neighbours, to make a difference in your community. The election campaign is also an opportunity to put forward creative ideas, a vision of a better way of doing things. Even if your candidacy does not result in victory, you will still have had an impact by participating in the process. Thank you.
