Veterinarian Doug Jernigan to speak at AWARE Simcoe meeting in Innisfil
News release — SIMCOE COUNTY ON, August 16, 2010, AWARE-Simcoe- What does a ‘James Herriot’ style veterinarian have to do with a citizens’ group that’s working for change in Simcoe County? Well, Dr. Doug Jernigan is a behaviour consultant who coaches humans to master their “people” frustrations.
Politics is about resolving “people” frustrations – so AWARE Simcoe thinks Dr. Jernigan is the perfect candidate to kick off its Innisfil meeting, the last in a series of meetings that have been held around Simcoe County to encourage participation in the coming municipal election.
The meeting will take place Saturday, August 21 at 10 a.m.-1 p.m at the Innisfil Community Church,The Life Center 1571 Innisfil Beach Road, Innisfil, Ontario.
Dr. Jernigan practiced small animal medicine and surgery for 35 years in Topeka, Kansas.  In 2007, he left his practice to continue a career as an author, public speaker and human behaviour consultant under the flag of “Your Brain is a Border Collie!”
He lives in Innisfil with his wife Sondra, a psychologist. He is a current member of the Rotary Club of Barrie, the Barrie Chamber of Commerce, the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association and is Rotary District 7010  representative to the newly chartered Rotary Club of Innisfil.
After hearing from Dr. Jernigan, the Innisfil meeting will follow the pattern established at previous meetings – including an open forum at which local issues can be raised and a networking session at which people make plans for effective intervention in the Oct. 25 election’
