News release from Barb Baguley – January 29, 2010
Innisfil – Barb Baguley, former Innisfil Deputy Mayor and Town Councillor, has entered the race for the Mayor’s chair in Innisfil. Baguley registered at the town office today, becoming the first candidate for mayor in the upcoming municipal election.
“It is time for Innisfil to choose a strong leader who can unite Council, work effectively with staff, listen to our residents and take positive action to meet the needs of this community,” Baguley said. “I believe I am that person.
“The strongest and most important partnership in Innisfil is between Council and the public and as Mayor I will create an environment where it is easier for residents to meet with Council formally and informally. We need to open the lines of communication.”
Baguley has lived in Innisfil with her husband Warren for more than 30 years and has served the community as a Ward 1 Councillor from 1988 to 1997, Deputy Mayor from 1997 to 2006 and as a volunteer supporting the work of several local organizations.
“I am asking Innisfil residents to reflect on the past term of Council and to choose change. It is my objective to have a return to responsible spending. I am asking for support to bring my leadership skills, my diverse experience and my passion for Innisfil to the office of the Mayor in 2010. I am asking voters to Choose Baguley.”
