Most councils are holding their final meetings before going on a summer break that includes the Civic Holiday and the annual Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) convention being held this year in Windsor on August 15-18. For many councillors, AMO will be a final fling before heading into a “lame duck” period before the October 25 municipal election – a period when it’s held that significant decisions on policy, expendure, governance should be left to the new councils.
