The Site 41 community monitoring committee is not about to roll over and play dead, says its chair.
Ron Cobbett says he has been told by Rob McCullough, Simcoe County’s director of environmental services, that now the Site 41 certificate of approval (C of A) has been revoked, the CMC is as good as dissolved.
County council voted May 25 to ask the Ministry of the Environment to revoke the C of A, which it did the same day.
Technically, the CMC — created under the terms of the C of A — ceased to exist at that moment.
However, Cobbett called a CMC meeting recently to, as he puts it, “tie up the loose ends and put on the public record a number of concerns that are still outstanding.
“We need to approve the minutes of the last meeting and arrange for an annual report for the first five months of 2010,” he said.
“There are still some questions that were never answered by the county and the Ministry of the Environment and we want that on the public record.”
