Vanderkruys running for mayor

CLEARVIEW TOWNSHIP – Brentwood resident Chris Vanderkruys has filed papers to run for mayor of Clearview Township.
Vanderkruys is a development officer with the Barrie Public Library and a volunteer on the Brentwood Community Centre Board.
The Sun was not able to reach Vanderkruys before going to press.
So far he is the only person to file for the job of mayor.
Mayor Ken Ferguson, who is finishing his first term as the head of council, has not stated if he’ll run again.
The only other person to have filed for this fall’s municipal election is Thom Paterson of Creemore. He’s seeking reelection as a councillor in Ward 4.
The deadline to file papers to run in this fall’s municipal election is Fri., Sept. 10 at 2 p.m.
Election Day is Mon., Oct. 25.
Clearview residents will select the next council using mail-in ballots.
Members of council will serve a four-year term.
