NEW TECUMSETH – A former Alliston councillor is looking to once again sit at the New Tecumseth council table.
Gary Dorland is looking to win the Ward 1 seat. The new Ward 1 covers the northwest corner of Alliston and is the area north of Young and Victoria Streets and west of Church Street.
Dorland will be going head-to-head in the election against two former councillors.
Wayne Noye is a former Adjala-Tosorontio councillor now looking for a seat in New Tecumseth. Former Alliston councillor Bob Marrs is also running and was the first candidate to announce his nomination for the ward in January.
Dorland and Marrs both lost in the last election to Jamie Smith and Christine Brayford. Smith and Brayford are both running in this year’s election, but for different wards. Smith is seeking the Ward 2 seat and Brayford the Ward 3 spot.
The municipal elections are Oct. 25. A full list of New Tecumseth’s candidates are available online at www.town.newtecumseth.on.ca.
