Wasaga Beach meeting showed Site 41 group willing to move forward – but County must revoke the C of A to end the distrust!

The majority of last night’s attendees were Site 41 protesters.  They were a polite and orderly group who were interested and willing to work with the consultants and the County to attain a better future for our garbage disposal and treatment.
Our family is worried that our attention is being “diverted” from our concern over what is going to become of that beautiful piece of agricultural land now owned by Simcoe, sitting on Tiny Concession 2!  While our attention is diverted to zero waste, what is going to happen to Site 41?
Can the land be restored to its original condition?  Wouldn’t that be the ideal situation?  If so, a vision of returning it to agricultural use is what we have.  Oh we have grand ideas of what can be done with the land… the possibilities are endless and perhaps costly.  But before any ideas of restoration or creativity can be considered, that monster under the bed, the C of A, must be dealt with!  Let’s not lose sight of this while we’re trying once again to be cooperative with the county!
It is understandable that Simcoe County would like to see us all move forward to deal with our garbage crisis.  We have shown we are willing to do this.  But do not let them duck the Site 41 issue that has not been entirely put to rest.  The County will go far in earning back our trust by ensuring the C of A is revoked immediately and by actually adopting some of their residents’ expertise.
There is one more meeting tonight, in Midland.  Last night, Stantec stated that the meetings are not about Site 41.  However, Site 41 is what brought us to this.  And since the meetings are being put on by the County of Simcoe and attended by staff of the County of Simcoe, the message must be loud and clear that this is why we’re here! We need to ensure they never forget how and why they earned our distrust and how they may go about reinstating it.  Watch out, because staff will say they have no control over the C of A issue, but our answer is that they need take this message back to those who do have control.
All who attend must make sure we address these issues.
