On Monday, Stephen Ogden was able to ascertain from Tiny Township officials that there had been a snafu in the approval of the Sarjeant Company’s application for an Official Plan amendment to permit a quarry at the end of French Road in the Wyebridge lowlands east of Site 41.
There is a discrepancy between the map that accompanied the application and the one that was published in the December 16 notice.
The amendment would allow mineral aggregate extraction below the water table on part of Lot 79, Concession 2 Old Survey. Many of the concerns raised about the effect of Dump Site 41 on the underlying aquifer apply here, particularlly in view of what Dr. William Shotyk has identified as the exceptional filtering quality of these lands, leading to the exceptionally pure water he has tested in the area’s artesian wells.
Ogden was told that the December 16 notice will have to be corrected and republished.
As stated in the notice, the OP amendment also requires the approval of Simcoe County Council.
Ogden has filed an appeal to the Ontario Municipal Board of the township approval
