Nominated as warden by Bradford West Gwillimbury Mayor Doug White and seconded by Alicia Savage of Severn, former warden Tony Guergis left everyone guessing until the last minute. Then he backed down. “I do not accept this nomination,” he said.
Wasaga Beach Mayor Cal Patterson, nominated by Adjala-Tosorontio Mayor Tom Walsh and Tiny’s George Lawrence, was immediately sworn in as the new county warden.
County councillors also chose the heads of the three standing committees:
-Adjala-Tosorontio Deputy Mayor Doug Little returns as chair of the corporate services committee, with Clearview Mayor Ken Ferguson as vice-chair.
-Severn Mayor Phil Sled chairs the performance management committee, with Oro-Medonte Mayor Harry Hughes as vice-chair.
-Penetanguishene Mayor Anita Dubeau and Clearview Deputy Mayor Alicia Savage are chair and vice-chair of the human services committee.
