The mayor of Wasaga Beach announced this morning he will seek the position of Simcoe County Warden when elections are held at the December 8 inaugural meeting.
Cal Patterson ran and lost last December to three time incumbent Tony Guergis, mayor of Springwater Township. Mr. Patterson’s nomination then was moved by New Tecumseth mayor Mike MacEachern.
He is the first publicly declared candidate for the position that pays more than $45,000, comes with an expense account and office with full-time assistant, and use of a County leased vehicle.
The Warden is elected by secret ballot cast by county councillors. The majority vote is 17 out of 32.
